The update is currently available to Windows Insiders on the Fast Ring. We suspect it will move for through the Windows Insider Program quickly during this week ahead of the Creators Update launch on April 11. Arguably the most exciting new Windows Store feature is the Xbox One integrations. Users can now download and install and Xbox One app from their PC. For example, installing the Groove Music app on Windows 10 will also have the option of installing it on the console. Of course, this is leveraging Microsoft’s Universal Windows Platform (UWP). Indeed, it is what UWP was designed to do, integrate Windows 10 as a single platform across devices. Integrations like this move a step closer to achieving that. As this is a UWP tool, only universal Windows apps can be downloaded for Xbox One. Microsoft has only made this feature available for PCs, at least at the moment. The Creators Update for Windows 10 Mobile will drop later in April, after the PC release. Perhaps this Xbox One download integration will be baked into mobile?
Windows Store New Features
Microsoft also introduced several other new features to for the Windows Store. Fast Ring users on the Inside will also see interactive notifications. With this ability, a new app or update comes with two buttons on the notification from the Windows Store. These options let users decided between launching the app or pinning it to the Start Menu. The progress bar for download has also been given an overhaul. In the Downloads & Updates section, the new progress bar shows download speeds to let users know how long the download may take. Finally, the new update also make it simpler to share applications on the Store. Microsoft did somehow managed to make the share button hard to see/find previously. The company has now solved that with the share icon now sitting alongside the Launch/Install button.
